Preventive Dentistry Preventive dentistry is the approach that we at Westleigh Dental Practice undertake to better improve your oral health. This approach will allow us to aim to prevent the damaging effects of tooth decay, gum disease and other oral health diseases. Preventive Dental Care as a concept is the way in which the dentists in conjunction with the hygienists will undertake a comprehensive examination of your oral health. We will take this approach in two forms. Firstly a detailed dental examination can reveal the early stages of tooth decay, gum disease and other oral health diseases which can be resolved effectively. This is complimented by routine hygienist’s visits to maintain good oral hygiene. Secondly, at Westleigh Dental Practice, we aim to develop the patients own home based oral hygiene regime. At Westleigh Dental Practice we encourage all our patients to have routine dental and hygienist examinations. Preventive dentistry and good oral health is a partnership between us at Westleigh Dental Practice and you the patient. Remember, “A smile is for life”, so protect it.
